Tennis Staff
Jawn Smith is now our Tennis Program Director. Jawn is a former Parkersburg High and Fairmont State University player, He has served as the coach of Marietta middle school and was the Head Pro at the Marietta Tennis Center. Jawn runs our highly successful UTR tournaments, This year he has introduced Impact team tennis. Jawn is highly motivated and brings a fresh energy to the staff.

Rick Rhoades is a certified USPTA tennis professional. He was a state tennis champion at PSHS and played collegiate tennis at West Liberty University where he was an All-American. He has taught tennis professionally in Chicago, Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Rick currently divides his time between Jackson Park in the summer and Greenmont in the Winter.

Staff Instructors
Megan Carney Former PHS player, She instructed at Parkersburg City park, managed the former MOVTA league. For the past three years she has been instructing several group lessons. She currently played on our 3.5 USTA team. Megan works with Beginner and Low Intermediates.

Jacob Boone Former Parkersburg High School player, he led the team at the #1 position. He is currently playing at Fairmont State University, playing in the MEC conference. Named ITA Scholar-Athlete and part of the iTA All-Academic Team in 2022, Named to MEC Commissioner's Honor Roll
Named Falcon Athlete of the Week on March 29, Played at No. 6 singles position and No. 3 doubles position in the '22 spring season.

Thank you for considering private lessons at the Greenmont Racquet Club, the only full service tennis facility in the area. Our experienced professionals have over 70 years combined teaching and coaching experience. Our pros have instructed junior players from beginner to college level, as well as adults from recreational to competitive levels, may times over. Their goal is to help you enjoy tennis, get involved in the club, and achieve the goals that you set for yourself.Each of our instructors has had success with their unique personalities and styles. Following is a brief outline of costs, player obligations and lesson concepts at the club.
Lesson concepts
It is our intention to provide each student with the best path to success. Each player's situation is unique, in order to create a customized path,we ask the Player to provide their history of playing, tournament experience, short term and long term goals to the instructor. Parents should explain their objectives, budget requirements and time constraints to the instructor.
Instructors will then develop a path for progression involving: basic thru advanced technique, strategy, and mental toughness. The pro will include teaching, practice, training and scrimmage methods as necessary. To schedule a lesson, contact the club with your name, times available, any instructor preferences and dates you wish to start.
Fees
We base our lesson fees on experience and certifications. Our instructors' fees include all taxes, court fees, insurance and supplies. The only additional fee is the non member fee of $3.00 per lesson, charged to players that have not yet joined the club.
Cancellation policy
Players scheduling private lessons accept responsibility for the costs of the court and the lesson fee -- cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance or charges may be incurred.
Players that cancel with less than 24 hours notice or do not show up will be responsible for the court and any fee assigned by the professional not to exceed the cost of the lesson. Non-member fees will not be assessed.
Players that schedule a weekly private lesson time will always be responsible for the entire cost of the court $28/hr (unless the court is sold), since a permanent court reservation is held for the lesson. This obligation ends when the student ends the lessons by written confirmation.
